Our Services Cross Country Staffing’s FAQs

We provide answers to some of the most common questions and concerns we hear.

What is the length of a Cross Country Staffing assignment?

Cross Country Staffing offers a variety of services to meet your current staffing needs. We offer:

What if my needs change, can an assignment be extended?

Absolutely. It is very common that assignments get extended for longer than their initial contract. You can extend an assignment for any amount of time that suits your needs.

How quickly can Cross Country Staffing fill my staffing needs?

We have placed healthcare professionals within a day of their interview and as early as six months before the start date.

What does the term “primary provider” mean?

A “primary provider” is a model in which one company provides the services that were previously supplied by multiple vendors. With Cross Country Staffing as the primary provider, we will manage and fulfill all of your facility’s temporary Nursing and Allied Health Professional staffing needs.

As the “primary provider,” Cross Country Staffing is the exclusive and only provider of our temporary Nursing and Allied Health professionals. However, Cross Country Staffing will sub-contract with other staffing companies that have been approved by your facility.

What does a Cross Country healthcare professional consider to be a full-time schedule?

40 hours per week is considered full-time for individuals who work 8 or 10-hour shifts. 36 hours per week is considered full-time for individuals who work 12-hour shifts.

On fixed-term contracts, who is responsible for providing housing for the healthcare professional?

Cross Country Staffing’s travel division has an entire department dedicated to finding accommodations for every healthcare professional we employ. Our housing department was rated world-class in overall quality in an independent customer satisfaction survey. They work with the country's largest property management companies. And they never cut corners when it comes to security and happiness. Our Client Accommodation Specialists also arrange for furniture delivery and utility set up. Housing leases are concurrent with staffing assignments.

Who is responsible for workers’ compensation insurance?

Cross Country Staffing’s different service divisions are always responsible for workers’ compensation insurance and all employer-related taxes and insurances, as long as the clinician is on its payroll. If the clinician is on the client’s facility payroll, the client is then considered the employer and is responsible for taxes and insurance.
