Federal Funds to be Available for Patient Safety Studies
September 30, 2015 by Vickie Anenberg
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is making grants available to fund a new program titled, “Making Healthcare Safer in Ambulatory Care Settings and Long-Term Care Facilities.” Those facilities that want to participate in the program can begin applying on January 5, 2016.
AHRQ has posted a detailed announcement about this opportunity. It is open to many different types of healthcare facilities, and there are 14 separate areas of interest that participants can choose from to produce studies ranging from factors that contribute to medical errors to examinations of transiting from long-term care facilities to inpatient/outpatient care environments.
Cross Country Staffing notes that this program may be ideal for healthcare facilities that are normally not positioned to compete for grants. The total funding is $1.5 million, with no single award to exceed $500,000. This indicates that smaller, more manageable studies will be accepted.
Providing quality care and improving patient satisfaction are foundational to value-based reimbursement. These two factors will largely determine which facilities receive full Medicare reimbursement for services, and remain financially viable in the long-term. As always, high-quality care and patient satisfaction begin with having the right qualified staff in the right positions at the right time. Cross Country Staffing has been helping healthcare facilities meet these staffing challenges for over 35 years.
We have leveraged this experience to develop a suite of workforce solutions that efficiently and cost-effectively enable our healthcare facility partners to manage their professional staffing challenges long-term.
